Information for Clinicians

Referral to our service can be made through CCG or letter.

We have developed a variety of strategies to improve our waiting lists,  As a result, we may offer clinical advice rather than an appointment for some referrals.

All referrals are triaged by a consultant with the following outcomes:

  • Clinic appointment

  • Advice pending a clinic appointment

  • Advice only

Please give as much detail as possible on the referral to assist with triage.

Referrals may be directed to specialist assessment/treatment clinics (e.g. consideration of biologics for chronic spontaneous urticaria or desensitizing clinics for venom allergy/severe allergic rhino conjunctivitis)

We have developed standard advice letters for conditions commonly referred.  These may ask you to maximize medical treatment in the community before patients will be considered for immunological therapies

If you are referring patients with a suspected allergic reaction, please give as much detail on the suspected allergen, time period from exposure to symptoms, and signs and symptoms of the reaction.

For suspected drug allergy, please give the exact medication and brand if known.

If you require clinical advice this can be obtained through;

  • Telephone

  • Requesting clinical advice only through ECR/CCG

We aim to answer your query within 24 hours
